Hey {{first_name|there}},

The Play

Data centers bring power and cooling demand to a desert city that already watches its water closely. When a local UNLV spinout talks about harvesting water from air and aiming for a net-zero effect on the municipal supply, treat that as a constraint story, not a pitch.

This week, pick one resource constraint that actually limits a project you are shipping: power, water, talent, or capital. Write a short note on what would change if that constraint moved, and send it to the one partner who can help you test it. One constraint, one note, one reply is enough.

The score

The Score is a short rundown of local product and company news worth knowing this week. Here are five that stood out.

  • WAVR Technologies pushes a desert-air water harvester toward data-center use. The Las Vegas UNLV spinout is commercializing atmospheric water capture for arid sites. News 3 reported on Oct. 2 that CEO Rich Sloan described a prototype moving from milliliters toward a goal of about 20 liters a day, with systems meant to give a data center a path to a net-zero effect on the municipal water supply. The Review-Journal has also covered WAVR as an UNLV spinout targeting data centers. via News 3 · via Review-Journal

  • Regenicin grows patients' own skin into lab grafts for severe burns. The Las Vegas biotech, with a lab at Roseman Bioventures, takes a postage-stamp-size skin sample and grows it into a graft up to about 100 times larger in roughly 28 days. Its cultured skin substitute, Tiscela (formerly NovaDerm), is headed toward an FDA investigational new drug filing and first-in-human trials for patients with burns over at least 20 percent of their body. Clinical director Dr. K.E. Castro, who trained at UNLV, said the company is fully funded for its initial clinical trial after nearly $50 million in prior presale funding. via Review-Journal

  • Navra raised a $19M Series A to put multiple blockchain venues behind one app. The Las Vegas-headquartered fintech comes from Mike Cagney, who co-founded SoFi and Figure. Ribbit Capital led the round, which closed Oct. 6, with Baseline, DCM, Jump Crypto, and Figure Technology Solutions participating. Navra is building a single interface, offered direct or white-label, that connects users to DeFi yield products, cash rails, keyless self-custody, and an embedded AI agent. A limited rollout to design partners is set for late October, with white-label access to follow. via Business Wire · via Crypto Briefing

  • Electrify Nevada named its Fall 2026 cohorts in Las Vegas and Reno. The gener8tor accelerator, run with GOED and UNLV, listed a Las Vegas track that includes CTRL, inGeniti, QuitCarbon, REEB Technologies, and SkyCool, framing both cities as clean-energy hubs. Mentorship and investor access are part of the program pitch; outcomes for this cohort are still ahead. via gener8tor

  • Innovation Henderson's LaunchLab opened Cohort 1 for early-stage founders. The 12-week in-person program at LaunchPad on Water Street is built around mentorship and a launch playbook from idea to execution. Kickoff was set for early September at the Henderson site. via Innovation Henderson
